Holistic Holidays in the Foothills of Southern Crete

Kalli Yoga creates educational trips to Crete, Greece.  We invite you to travel with us and explore the hospitality and uniqueness of the Cretan communities and people.   We seek to redefine Greece; to reignite her spirit; to make the invisible, visible. We aspire to transform the global perception of Greece. We look after her cultural heritage, visit places enriched with forest, protected mountain trails, traditional villages, and isolated beaches. We team up and help restore homes, agriculture, villages, and vegetation. We clean beaches. We don’t just create retreats, we flow, we get inspired and inspire, and seek to cultivate change and community. We work all year round to plan seasonal excursions and retreats for teachers from around the world. We travel with yogis, holistic practitioners, writers, individuals, families or groups and talented professionals who are interested in experiencing authentic community living, in the foothills of southern Crete’s mountains.

Our team will help you organize a unique education trip to Crete, Greece anytime of year. We love to work the land. We live to learn and grow. We use local producers and traders for the material, food, and goods we supply. We use traditional harvesting techniques to produce olive oil; traditional building methods to restore homes; we collect original seeds and support seed banks; we interact with Cretan culture. We create a movement that fuses teaching and learning with the benefits of sustainable, local development. It is our mission to explore Crete, encourage growth, community involvement, and to work side by side with yogis, healers, farmers, artists, musicians, and people from all walks of life.

Azogyres is a small mountain village far removed from the brash tourist towns. Surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest preserve, it is nested in a valley with views of surrounding mountains and Libyan sea. Located on the southwest coast of Crete, Azogyres is surrounded by waterfalls, hikes, abundant wildlife, and river adventures. Azogyres’s beauty is unique, with its wooded landscapes, and countless caves of rocky climes and treks. Two thousand year old olive trees still provide the local community with olives and olive oil. The people are friendly and the food is locally grown, loved, and served. The houses and hotel we host are owned by local families so that the economic benefits go directly to the local community. Just an 8-minute drive from the beach town of Paleochora, Azogyres is a place where you feel transported back in time.

Paleochora is an alternative and vibrant beach town just an 8-minute drive from Azogyres. The pearl of the Libyan Sea, Paleochora is built on a small peninsula, on the southwest shores of Crete. Along the western side is a long sandy beach fringed by trees and tavernas, and on the eastern side lies the old town, the ferry dock, and a long pebble beach lined with picturesque tavernas and beautiful sunsets.
Snorkeling is excellent in most places. Nightlife is not what most visitors are looking for in Paleochora, but there are some eclectic bars and tea houses. All the major amenities; banks, car/bike rentals, markets, and health care are in Paleochora. There is free public parking and the town is family friendly, safe, and easy to walk.

Azogyres is a safe, healing, and adventurous place for kids with lots of things to do in nature. Upon request we can help organize :
Children’s Yoga classes with our local yoga teacher, trained with Karma Kids Yoga
Mommy Baby Yoga, Pre/post natal Yoga, Babysitting services, Kids excursions, Kids Music + lessons, Tutoring services (English & Greek)

Children always need adult supervision. If babysitting serves are not provided for, we expect caretakers to supervise their children at all times.

Bask in the sun by the majestic turquoise Libyan sea with Paleochora’s abundant amount of isolated beaches and coves.
Small boats offer short cruises to the open sea, where the Mediterranean whales and dolphins can be observed.

Spend the day lounging by the waterfalls and rivers.

Samaria Gorge, one of the most scenic national parks in Europe, this gorge stretches more than 10 miles, about a 6-8 hour trek. (Highly recommended!)

There are scheduled daily trips to isolated beach villages around Paleohora; Elafonissi, Sougia, Agia, Roumeli, Loutro, Sfakia and the island of Gavdos, according to myth the island of Calypso.
Tickets can be obtained locally.

Climb to the Holy Fathers cave, inhabited by monks some 700 years ago.

Visit ancient villages and tour the olive oil factory in Azogyres.
